Michael Chandler provides an update on potential Conor McGregor bout

Michael Chandler last fought Dustin Poirier at UFC 281 and lost via rear naked choke. After the loss, Chandler appeared as a coach against Conor McGregor at The Ultimate Fighter Season 31. McGregor had not fought since UFC 264 when he broke his legal against Poirier. Chandler and McGregor are to headline UFC 300, according to many in the MMA community.

However, no official confirmation about the bout was made by the UFC. Moreover, rumors swirl that McGregor will not fight Chandler. Amidst the chaos, Chandler provided an update on the fight in a recent interview on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. This is what he said about it:

Obviously, he joined USADA, got back in the USADA testing pool. He's not doing that unless he's actually coming back. So, he's tying to wait me out, smoke me out, but I'm going to be waiting here, man.

Chandler believed that McGregor was trying to wait out Chandler. However, Chandler remained adamant about waiting it out. He explained that McGregor’s recent entry into the USADA testing pool was the first step in the right direction. Even though Chandler has fought exclusively at lightweight, the bout against McGregor is expected to be at a higher weight class.
