Conor McGregor is a charismatic and polarizing figure in the world of mixed martial arts. He recently provided insight into his future with the UFC. The former two-division champion has opened up about the uncertainty surrounding his next move. He has only two fights remaining on his current contract.
Conor McGregor had a candid interview with Ariel Helwani. The Irishman revealed he had yet to discuss re-signing terms with the UFC. The former champion hoped the UFC could reach an amicable agreement with him for his contract renewal. This is what he said:
If we’re having two fights in the contract, we gotta do something else. Or do we? I don’t know, man. Surely, nobody brings the figures I bring. Ever. You see, all of these things will, I’m sure, work out and be ironed out with my management stable, Paradigm Sports… There have been no talks about no deals.Conor McGregor via The MMA Hour
‘The Notorious‘ was confused how they’d negotiate with such a big star. His remarks showed his unique position. He’s still the UFC’s most famous and profitable fighter. They must decide to keep their biggest draw or risk losing him as a free agent.
No one knows what Conor McGregor will do next. Fight fans will have to wait and see if he re-signs with the company that made him a superstar. Whatever happens, it’ll be as exciting as his fights. He is scheduled to return this summer against Michael Chandler. He also wanted to headline the Las Vegas Sphere for the Mexican Independence Day against Nate Diaz. If these two fights happen, then McGregor would have no fights remaining on his contract.
Conor McGregor reacted to Jose Aldo’s return to UFC
Conor McGregor became very famous after his amazing knockout of Jose Aldo. He recently expressed his happiness at Jose Aldo’s decision to come out of retirement. The Brazilian legend was once considered the king of the 145-pound division. He is now set to make his highly anticipated return at UFC 301 in Rio de Janeiro.
The Irishman seemed genuinely pleased with Aldo’s resurgence. However, he questioned whether Aldo’s retirement was a failed business move. McGregor pointed out that Aldo was within striking distance of another title shot before hanging up his gloves. He speculated that Aldo’s retirement might have had some strategy behind it.
Aldo tried his hand at boxing during his retirement from UFC. He competed in three bouts (2 professional and one exhibition). McGregor believed the allure of the UFC eventually drew him back. His respect for Aldo’s tenacity was evident as he praised the Brazilian as a “tremendous goer” and an asset to the company.
