MMA’s biggest superstar, Conor McGregor rose to stardom after he fought Floyd Mayweather in a professional boxing match. UFC promoted the hell out of this fight, and even though Conor got knocked out by Mayweather, he got a sh*t ton of money, and he established himself as a true pioneer of the sport.

Conor is the richest superstar of the sport, and he was declared the highest paid athlete of 2021, and his liquor brand ‘Proper No. Twelve’ added significantly to his wealth. He built the brand for a long time and recently sold his majority stake in a deal that is worth almost $600 million.

It significantly turned things around for McGregor, and many believe it is the sole reason for his recent downfall. Conor is a former double champ, but he hasn’t won a fight since 2020. His last two losses came against Dustin Poirier, and now he is recovering from a broken foot injury.

Fighters believe Conor lost his hunger to compete, and all the money made him way too comfortable with his life. His close friend, Artem Lobov doesn’t believe it’s true, and he revealed some interesting information about his Whiskey brand. Talking to TalkSports, he said, “The selling point of my book will be the Proper 12 Whiskey story. A few people know, but this was actually my idea. I was the person who came up with the idea to do a whiskey for Conor.”

Artem added, “ME and Conor were in the gym and we were talking one day and he says to me, ‘Artem, Thor, ‘The Mountain’ out of Game of Thrones, I was chatting to him, and he’s offered me to do my own vodka. He said, he was doing one in Iceland and now he’s offering me the chance to do one as well.”

“I told him about my presentation from college. I told him about the dominance of Irish whiskey and all of that. He said, ‘you go off and see what deal you can put together’ and I went on my way. Conor offered me $1M but I turned it down, I didn’t accept it. You know, throughout my career whenever I have helped Conor with camps, he offered to pay me for them camps, but I never accepted money from him,” Artem concluded.
