UFC Flyweight prospect Muhammad Mokaev has taken to Twitter with a political statement about his homeland and its relationship with Russia. Mokaev requested to keep only Dagestan during his walkout details for his fight and not mention Russia at all. In other words, he did not want to associate himself with Russia. Even former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen asked Twitter for an explanation.
In the first tweet, Mokaev wrote, “I don’t like this! Please just keep Dagestan for me for my next walk out!” However, fans took issue with his statement, and Mokaev later issued another statement on Twitter. He wrote “I have read a lot of comments how Russians against Muslims who wants to building mosque in Moscow! That was enough for me I can say the country where I live now have never openly gave been against mosques.”
Muhammad Mokaev indicated his desire not to associate himself with Russia because of their intention not to allow the construction of a Mosque in the capital city of Moscow. Mokaev states that the country he now lives in (England) does not promote politics like that, which makes him desire to eliminate any associations with Russia.

Explain. I mean, I am aware of your position, but I still think you should explain it. A lot of people would find it compelling. https://t.co/jrdiPodicV

However, Mokaev wants to fight Perez in his next bout. Perez is a top 10 contender and a good step up in competition for Mokaev. Mokaev called out Perez on Twitter, vowing to retire the veteran fighter. He wrote, “This guy is ranked number 6 in my division. I’m sure this isn’t normal Alex Perez I can retire you fast track, just let me know date of your retirement.”
Mokaev is undefeated and ranked No. 12, and a fight with Perez makes sense. Perez is a big step up for Mokaev regarding experience and competition. Fight fans will soon find out if the fight between Mokaev and Perez happens or will the UFC look in a different direction.
