Dan Hooker has not returned to the octagon since his brutal war against Jalin Turner at UFC 290. The UFC lightweight recently appeared on Israel Adesanya‘s YouTube channel. The duo broke down various fights on the UFC 300 card. In the middle of it, Hooker backtracked from the conversation by talking about the legendary Edson Barboza.

During the conversation, The ‘Hangman’ jokingly warned the Brazilian to come to lightweight so that he could take revenge. Edson Barboza ruthlessly defeated Dan Hooker in 2018. The YouTube video revealed that Hooker still remains affected by the loss. As such, he hilariously trash-talked Barboza during the video with Israel Adesanya. 

Man, all I want to say is f*** Edson Barboza. If that s****bag ever wants to fight again, I’ll kick his f***** chin off. Every couple months I message him, ‘F*** you….Because he beat the shit out of me, bro. I’ve been prepared to fight some people because they looked at me funny. That guy actually beat the shit out of me, of course, I’m upset about it.

The pair fought at UFC on Fox 31 in 2018, which was an absolute banger. Both Hooker and Barboza engaged in an all-out war for three rounds. It featured one of the most brutal showdowns in UFC history as Barboza dished out heavy damage.

The Brazilian used body shots and kicks to nullify the Kiwi fighter completely. Barboza unleashed everything he had on Hooker, who surprisingly absorbed every blow like a zombie. In the final moments of the fight, Hooker’s movement became impaired, causing him to collapse on the floor in a gruesome manner.

Edson Barboza went through a difficult time before his 2018 fight against Dan Hooker, having lost his previous two fights. This run of bad luck began with his fight against the fearsome Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 219. Khabib utilized his dominant wrestling and smothered Barboza for three rounds.

Prior to the fight, Dan Hooker posed with the ‘Mini Khabib’ girl while wearing the recognizable ‘Papakha.’ This created a buzz around the MMA community. While Hooker didn’t say anything clear with the gesture, many fans surmised that it was a subliminal way to incite a reaction and potentially even irritate Barboza before their battle.

In the fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov, Barboza was simply helpless. However, given the result of the fight between Hooker and Barboza, it was Hooker who suffered a similar fate. Nevertheless, the two lightweight fighters put on a fantastic display when they fought in 2018.
