No matter how big of a fighter Conor McGregor is, the fans are always unhappy when he gets special treatment. UFC boss Dana White explains why the Irishman is given special treatment from the promotion.
It was not too long ago that we saw the entire MMA community boil down after the UFC boss dropped hints that former double champ, Conor McGregor could return to face Charles Oliveira for the vacant lightweight belt. The Brazilian himself was ready to wait for the Irishman and take the fight to Brazil. Though this fight makes no sense, why is the company always down to book Conor against whoever he wants?
UFC president has been in close quarters with the Irishman and has seen the rise of the Notorious One from day one. White is forever grateful for the success Conor has brought to the UFC since his debut in that octagon. McGregor’s fight options have always been questioned and there have been accusations on the company from the fans’ side that the Irishman is always favored over more “deserving” fighters. Dana White sat down with Daniel Cormier in an interview and broke down the reason behind this special treatment.

Dana and Conor have done wonderful business together and the UFC promoter knew he hit gold the day he hired the Irishman. The two joined hands together and produced one of the biggest sporting events of all time in the McGregor vs Mayweather boxing match. In the interview with DC, White revealed Conor’s mentality when his opponents pulled out. “Conor McGregor would literally fight anybody,” said White in the interview.
“I’ve dealt with a thousand fighters that say, ‘Uh this isn’t the right fight for me at this time.’ This isn’t that, this isn’t this. This f**king kid, we’ve been in the house that he was renting, I think it was when Jose [Aldo] fell out. This is what he said to us, ‘I don’t give a f**k who you get, I’m going to workout. When you figure it out, call me and let me know,'” added the UFC boss talking about Conor not turning down any opponents.
“Conor McGregor has been that guy since the day he walked into this f***ing company. So for anybody to point the finger and say, ‘This guy is getting special treatment.’ This guy is special,” White explained the reason behind Conor’s special treatment.
