Recently during the Dana White Contender Series interview, White was asked about Aspen Ladd’s departure from the promotion. While responding to the question, White mentioned that Ladd was a great fighter and person but professionally there were some issues.

White explained that for every UFC fighter it’s important that they make the weight but Ladd has failed several times during the weigh-ins. According to White, there was no other option for the UFC but to release Ladd from the contract.

Dana said: “She’s a great kid, she’s a really nice person… But part of the job is making weight and she’s not made weight so many times that it had to happen.”

Ladd joined UFC in 2017 at UFC Fight Night 118 and went on a three-fight win streak. However, after that, there was a downfall in her performance and she was currently on a two-fight losing streak. One of the major reasons for her losses was her inefficiency to make the weight.

Since the beginning of her UFC journey, Aspen Ladd was struggling to make the Bantamweight limit. Ladd failed to make the weight on three separate occasions and the UFC had to cancel all those bouts at the last minute.

In 2019, Ladd fought Germaine de Randamie but was physically weak due to the extreme weight cut. She lost the fight via TKO and was later suspended by The California State Athletic Commission for gaining a lot of weight after her weigh-ins.
