Everyone remains focused on the latest Tyson Fury vs. Jon Jones beef. It all started when Joe Rogan picked Jones to defeat Fury in a fight without rules. The two heavyweights debated on who was the baddest man on the planet. Dana White joined the debate and asked if Fury was serious about fighting Jones.
The WBC heavyweight champion got angry after hearing the comments made by Rogan. Tyson Fury went on social media and verbally insulted Rogan. Fight fans and Jon Jones came to Rogan’s defense. Jones said, “I’ll admit there’s no one touching you in that ring right now, but let’s not let that confuse you with what would happen if you stepped foot in my cage.“ However, Jones also provoked Fury to fight him in the UFC. Since then, Fury came out and retracted his statements.
Dana White became the latest personality to join the debate. He said, “Jon Jones is the baddest dude on the planet. There’s no debate, there’s no denying it. There’s no debate. I don’t care what anybody says, everybody can try to spin it, a lot of this stuff is clickbait, and you know how I am.” In an interview with BroBible, Dana White discussed offering Tyson Fury a contract to fight Jon Jones in the UFC. “If Tyson Fury really wants to fight Jon Jones in the UFC, I will make it happen…Tyson, if you’re serious, let me know,” he said.
It is unlikely that neither fights the other. Jones remains uninterested in a boxing bout. Fury has never competed in an MMA bout. In an MMA bout, Jones has multiple ways to secure victory. There is a huge possibility of Jones lasting more in a boxing bout than Fury can in an MMA bout. Hence, it remains a talking point at the moment with no fight announcement imminent.
Tyson Fury backs out of fighting Jon Jones in the octagon
Jon Jones and Tyson Fury’s feud may seem to have found closure. The WBC heavyweight champion has backed out of fighting the UFC Heavyweight champion inside the octagon. It took Fury about 24 hours before he retracted the statements about fighting Jones in a cage.
“See Jon you talk about me in a cage. I’m not a cage fighter, mate. I’m a boxer, the best boxer, actually,” said Fury. “So if you want to come into a boxing ring to fight me, be my guest, let me know. You don’t have to call anybody else. It is a boxing fight, and I’m the boss in the game.” He commended Jon Jones for his MMA skills but reminded him that he is no boxer.“You are a great fighter Jon, but you are definitely no boxer. All the best, good luck!”
A Jones vs. Fury fight could sell at least 1.5 million PPVs. Fight fans would be deeply interested in such a bout. However, the WBC heavyweight champion has no business inside an octagon where he is vulnerable to leg kicks and grappling.
