Dana White proves that he is a standup friend of legendary boxer Mike Tyson after his recent gesture. The UFC boss turned down a million-dollar worth of business deal only because his heavyweight friend came out saying that the streaming network was a biopic about the fighter without his approval.
Mike Tyson recently lashed out at Hulu, after their recent promotional footage of the series, “Mike” dropped. The legendary fighter claimed that the company had made the series without his approval. Tyson also posted another message on his social media, thanking his friend, the UFC president for taking his side in the corporate battle between him and Hulu.
Dana White recently attended a press conference after the Contender Series Fight event this week. In the post-fight press conference, the media asked the UFC boss to shed some light on the details of the deal and Dana explained why he did not approve of the million-dollar worthy deal with the streaming service. Dana has been a huge friend of the boxer and there was no way he was going against Tyson in this instance.
Hulu tried to desperately pay my brother @danawhite millions without offering me a dollar to promote their slave master take over story about my life. He turned it down because he honors friendship and treating people with dignity. I'll never forget what he did for me just like pic.twitter.com/amk65CjtvJ— Mike Tyson (@MikeTyson) August 6, 2022
“We won’t promote that show” – Dana White is firm on his stance in the Tyson-Hulu battle
Tyson revealed that Hulu was trying to approach Dana and persuade him to promote the “Mike” series on Ultimate Fighting Championship. Luckily, Dana got to know about Tyson’s dissent with the show and immediately shut down the deal. “So we were about to do a deal with Hulu with this Mike Tyson unauthorized biography. And Craig Borsari, head of production came to me and said, ‘Hey I’m hearing, Tyson isn’t happy about this thing,'” said White in the post-fight press conference.
White being a close friend of the legendary heavyweight called up to confirm this deal. “So I called Mike, and I said we’re in a deal with these guys and he said, ‘Dana, they’re f***ing me.’ That’s all I had to hear. Then I said I’m out. I’ll squash this deal. So I told them it was over and I killed it and we won’t be promoting that show for Hulu.”
