“I’LL DO IT” – Dana White reveals opponent for UFC superstar Jorge Masvidal’s next fight

Dana White and Jorge Masvidal

Jorge Masvidal has been itching to come back into the octagon since his loss against Colby Covington. “Gamebred” would be pleased to know Dana White has an amazing matchup for him in the near future.

Dana White has been the media’s best friend ever since the Contender Series kicked off this year. We get to see/talk to the UFC boss on Tuesday nights at a press conference. White is more than happy to answer questions, unfiltered to the press, and has given his fans the fight updates they want from time to time. The UFC almost always knows the perfect matchups when it comes to superstar fights. And Jorge Masvidal now has a name that he can fight to bounce back from his losses.

Recently in the press conference, Dana talked to the press and when a reporter threw the name of Gilbert Burns as a potential opponent for Masvidal, White had a huge smirk on his face. “I like it,” said Dana in response to the suggestion from the reporter. The UFC boss also wanted to confirm if the reporter likes that matchup. “I’ll do it,” added White to the idea of a Burns vs Masvidal fight.

The reporter from the press conference suggested the fight between Masvidal and Burns could either happen by the end of 2022 or in January of 2023. White has confirmed that the UFC will be heading to Brazil at the beginning of 2023 and White doesn’t mind making the Masvidal vs Burns fight for that card in Brazil.

Jorge is already a huge superstar around the world and it would only make things better if Dana gave Gilbert Burns a “home court” advantage with Brazilian fans rooting against the superstar. Both Burns and Masvidal have personally agreed to fight each other verbally but the official confirmation is yet to happen. When the UFC boss likes the fight, you best believe that is happening.

Masvidal also has recently claimed a title shot after Leon Edwards, his rival, took over the welterweight division with a win against Kamaru Usman last weekend. Masvidal has lost three fights in a row while Burns is coming off a war against rising contender Khamzat Chimaev. With the Edwards vs Usman 3 fight being the next probable title fight, you couldn’t match Jorge with a better fight from the welterweight division other than Gilbert.
