On Saturday in the post-fight presser of the UFC Vegas Fight Night, UFC President, Dana White appeared to talk about UFC’s future and the upcoming super card at UFC 285. Former light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones will make his return to the octagon after three years of lay-off to compete against Ciryl Gane for the vacant heavyweight title.
The co-main event for UFC 285 is scheduled for the woman’s flyweight championship between Valentina Shevchenko and Alexa Grasso. UFC Women’s flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko will be looking to defend her title for the 10th consecutive time inside the UFC octagon.
Valentina Shevchenko’s dominant reign over the women’s flyweight division has not come closer to a real challenge for a while now. UFC boss, Dana White was asked by one of the reporters if he believed Shevchenko was getting overshadowed by all the hype about Jon Jones’ return.
“She’s so sweet, talented, and lowkey. She doesn’t get the attention she deserves all the time but this time, we actually made two posters for the event. So she deserves her own poster,” Dana White said in the post-fight presser.
“I was ready to fight six months ago” – Jon Jones answers questions from a fan about his return after Francis Ngannou’s departure

On Thursday, former UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones addressed some of the questions from fans ahead of his return against Ciryl Gane for the vacant heavyweight championship. The fan meant to roast Jon Jones for announcing his return after Francis Ngannou left the promotion.
“Yeah that’s funny, that’s not how it happened my friend. I was ready to fight about six months ago, you all heard Dana ‘ready to fight absolutely anyone.’ Francis should’ve had this fight, not Gane. Nice try though,” Jones wrote.
Initially, Jon Jones was supposed to make his return against former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou. However, due to long-term contractual disputes with the UFC and hardcore negotiation tactics by the UFC, Ngannou decided to leave the promotion and take potential fights as a free agent in the boxing ring.
After Ngannou’s departure, the UFC boss, Dana White decided that the show must go on. Thus, scheduling Jones against former interim heavyweight and #1 ranked heavyweight contender and is considered by many as a better stylistic match-up for Jon Jones than Ngannou.
