In his recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Luke Rockhold makes sure people know that he isn’t on board with Dana White‘s Power Slap contest. He said that it shouldn’t be advertised or marketed on the same level as the MMA scene.

Dana White recently launched Power Slap where fighters are made to stand in front of each other to slap and get slapped without having any form of defense guard up. Fighters have always been told to keep their guard up and to protect themselves at all costs. But the Power Slap by Dana forbids you to protect yourself.

Rockhold addressed this and said that the fighters who have trained for years should feel insulted that such a contest exists. Having the contest being marketed at the same level and a “fight” happening on the same stage is an insult to all fighters in the MMA and Boxing scene.

Dana White’s Power Slap received a lot of hate after people discovered the pay. The fact that the Power Slap took place after the recent Dana White wife-slapping scandal, hasn’t been received well by the fans and Rockhold is just verbalizing the fans’ opinions.

White has had a rough start to the year. His wife slapping scandal, his heavyweight champion getting stripped of the belt, and his Power Slap contest. His slap-fighting contest has been dragged to the ground even more after a former UFC fighter exposed the fighter pay.

Eric Spicely, a former UFC fighter, said he was offered to compete in the Power Slap contest. He revealed that he would be paid $2000 to participate and another $2000 if he won. For someone who has been in a slapping scandal, Dana White seems to know very little about the hazards of slapping each other at full power carries.

Dana White already being accused of less fighter pay in UFC seems to have taken it to the next level by paying even less in a competition where the fighters aren’t allowed to protect themselves at all. The President of UFC needs to improve the situation if he wants to make any sort of money from this sport before fans boycott it.
