UFC CEO Dana White and Tyron Woodley were on good terms at one point. However, their relationship deteriorated as the years went on. One of their early pictures recently resurfaced on the internet. The video resurfaced after Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs repeated as Super Bowl winners. Here is what happened:
Super Bowl LI happened in 2017 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Dana White and Tyron Woodley were present there, and they had taken a picture together. This was back when they were on good terms. The two have had a contentious relationship. Both clashed in interviews and public press conferences. White was accused of promoting Woodley’s opponents while ignoring him.
Meanwhile, Woodley was a dominant champion who had poor PPV numbers. His performance at UFC 214 broke the record for the least punches ever thrown in a title fight. White tends to dislike fighters who go into a bout with a safety-first approach. This and many other clashes left a sour taste in their relationship. Tyron Woodley left the UFC after his contract expired.
Meanwhile, Super Bowl LI featured the iconic game between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons. Dana White attended the event to support his friend Tom Brady, who led the Patriots to the greatest comeback win in Super Bowl history.
Dana White got fans angry with the latest Super Bowl commercial
UFC CEO Dana White did not announce the UFC 300 main event at the Super Bowl. White appeared on the screen to promote Bud Light instead of the event. Fans were disappointed as they expected Dana White to reveal the much-anticipated matchup.
Speculations about a mega announcement for UFC 300’s main event during the Super Bowl were rife. This heightened people’s anticipation. The expected announcement did not happen despite widespread rumors, leaving fans frustrated and dissatisfied.
Dana White’s decision not to unveil the UFC 300 main event during the high-profile Super Bowl commercial surprised and upset many. Despite the dissatisfaction, it is worth noting that White had openly acknowledged the challenges in securing a main event.
Dana told the Nelk Boys on the Full Send Podcast that everything about UFC 300 could change anytime. The event will take this April at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. Hopefully, Dana White will announce the main event after UFC 298 this weekend.
