Daniel Cormier believes Jordan Burroughs would “tear-apart” teammate and UFC Champ Islam Makhachev

Despite how much his teammate Islam Makhachev achieves Daniel Cormier will always be skeptical of his ability to go to toe to toe on a wrestling mat against Olympic Gold Medalist, Jordan Burroughs. Recently on his YouTube channel, he elaborated on why he thinks so.
Makhachev just recently managed to fulfill his destiny set by Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov when he beat Oliveira to bring back the lightweight title to Dagestan. Makhachev looked dominant throughout and managed to gain a submission victory over Oliveira, the man with the highest submission rate in the UFC.
Cormier, a long-time training partner of Makhachev has found out for himself that despite being a lightweight, Nurmagomedov and Makhachev are not always easy to take down. “Wrestling Islam Makhachev is not fun, by any means, he’s strong, he’s durable and he has an understanding of balance that is not like many that I have wrestled with”, said Cormier as he told his audience that despite being able to get Makhachev to the ground, he’d never be able to rightly estimate how difficult it would be.
“When you think you’re wrestling a 155-pounder, you think you should be able to hold him down and treat him like your little brother”, said Cormier revealing the same could never be applied to Makhachev or Nurmagomedov. “Now he’s lost his mind when he says, bring Jordan Burroughs and all these guys, because those guys would tear him apart, I don’t care how good he is in wrestling in MMA, he ain beating Burroughs, “ said DC as he declared the Makhachev era to only be starting off in the UFC.
Has Jordan Burroughs fought any MMA Fighters?
Jordan Burroughs is a former Olympic Gold medalist, having won the competition at the 2012 games in London. He has been active in wrestling since then and to this day competes and wins at the highest level of competition.

He boasts an NCAA record of 15-3 with his three losses coming very early in his college career. His freestyle wrestling record is a beast by itself as he boasts a massive 223-15 record. His most recent gold came at the pan American championships in 2022.
Burroughs has actually wrestled a decorated MMA Wrestler before and it didn’t go well for MMA. In 2019, Burroughs went toe to toe against Ben Askren who’d by then just made his move to the UFC. Regardless, the olympian absolutely mopped the floor with the former Bellator and One Champion, who’d gotten there relying heavily on his wrestling acumen.
