On Saturday at UFC 283, Brand Moreno defeated Deiveson Figueiredo due to a doctor’s stoppage via TKO to become the undisputed UFC Flyweight Champion. In the post-fight octagon interview, Deiveson announced his move up to the bantamweight division.

After a long rivalry spanning over two years and four fights, Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno finally settled their dispute over the Flyweight championship. “Unfortunately, it’s time to leave the division. I’ve done a lot. Congratulations to Brandon, but I’m moving up,” said Figueiredo.

The 35-year-old Brazilian fighter has previously faced problems with cutting weight to 125 lbs. Even during the UFC 283 weigh-ins, fans had expressed concerns about the effects of weight-cutting on the fighter’s long-term health.

I’m tired of making this weight, that’s why I’m moving up,” Figueiredo added further. The Brazilian fighter will be moving up to Bantamweight where it would be difficult to decide the right matchup for him. However, there won’t be a shortage of opponents with names like Suga Sean, Chito Vera, Petr Yan, Cory Sandhagen, Merab Dvalishvili, and the champion Aljamain Sterling stacked in the division.
