Defeat more opponents, save the crowded lightweight title contention scene, and even play some pro ball. Yes, Tony Ferguson is that guy! The fighter said as much himself, on a recent appearance on the ‘JAXXON‘ Podcast. Speaking to co-hosts, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Bear Degidio, Ferguson scoffed away at retirement talks. He even brazenly rekindled his old rivalry with Khabib Nurmagomedov. He shed light on Team Khabib’s ambush on his family amidst rivalry. Only goes to show that he is ready for all and anything.

El Cucuy‘, who just turned 40 this month, even braved some disses on Conor McGregor as well, on issues of post-COVID-19 pandemic aftermath. Amongst prolonged hype for the historic UFC 300 card, Ferguson had sneered at ‘The Notorious’ recently as well. Bursting fans’ bubble of super fight, he hinted that McGregor would never sign a fight contract against him. Willing to brave it all, here’s what he added on retiring:

I’m going to fight until the wheels fall off...F*ck retiring, dude. If you’re a competitor for the longest time — I’m a three-sport athlete. I wanted to go back and play pro ball. I wanted to go and do another f*ck**g thing. I wanted to do all this sh*t because I’m that guy.

His last fight tied him with former two-division champion, BJ Penn for the longest losing streak in UFC history (7). Ferguson made it to the judges’ scorecards, unlike the three losses that came before his last fight. However, this does not affect him in the least. The fighter even brashly advocated for McGregor to have been stripped of his gold instead of him, despite an LCL injury.

Ferguson suffered his seventh straight skid this past December at UFC 296. Before that though, the former interim lightweight champ last enjoyed his 12th straight win against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC 238. Consequently, this was in 2019, right before the pandemic hit. However, he aspires to get back to the win column.

Tony Ferguson demands a boxing crossover stint with Jake Paul

El Cucuy‘ happens to be the Mexican folklore variant of the Bogeyman (the Baba Yaga). It translates to “the child eater.” Concurrently, Tony ‘El Cucuy‘ Ferguson has ‘The Problem Child’ Jake Paul in mind.

With crossover fights and influencer boxing being all the craze, one cannot deny the star power Jake Paul holds. Ferguson, who holds a veteran spot with a lightweight profile in the UFC, is contract-bound to Dana White and Co. Coincidentally, White opinionates that influencer and crossover boxing sells no fights, and is ardently against it.

But, Tony Ferguson does not give a hoot. Speaking at the ‘JAXXON‘ Podcast, he said he has done enough for the company and is ready for a Jake Paul-shaped fight. Check out his whole statement below:

During the segment, Ferguson detailed his UFC 296 cornerman Ex-Navy SEAL, David Goggins, and the subsequent training he had with him. He also spoke on old rivalries like Conor McGregor and Team Khabib.

But, more than anything, he shut down retirement talks and voiced his resolve to bounce back stronger. His aim to transition into the boxing world proves that even more so.
