Valentina Shevchenko‘s affection for firearms is no secret. When she’s not dominating the UFC octagon or hitting the gym, you’ll likely find ‘Bullet’ at a shooting range honing her marksmanship skills.
Recently, the former UFC flyweight champion made a trip to a shooting range in Florida. She expressed her eagerness to return to the range in a tweet and mentioned her intention to focus on her left hand. In the same tweet, she revealed her upcoming hand surgery scheduled for the following week. “Can’t wait to be back at the shooting range ! Will work on my left hand for now…Next week have my hand surgery scheduled,” the tweet read.
This visit to the shooting range came after Shevchenko’s intense rematch with Mexican fighter Alexa Grasso. The two fighters headlined UFC Fight Night 227 in Las Vegas, and the bout ended in a rare split decision draw. However, the journey to this point was anything but smooth.
In the very first round of the fight, Shevchenko endured an unfortunate injury – a fractured thumb. ” I injured my hand in the first round,” she said. Presently, Shevchenko faces the prospect of a month-long stint in a cast for her injured hand, followed by several months of no-contact training. Nevertheless, her dedication to her craft remains undiminished. Shevchenko made it clear that she is ready to take on any challenge, be it a trilogy fight, a move to a higher weight class, or facing other top contenders.
