Aleksander Rakic is a person driven by competition and thrives on the sweet taste of success. Things did not exactly pan out that way in his last fight, when he popped his knee mid-fight against former Light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz in the early minutes of R3 during their title eliminator fight. While most fans were disappointed with the conclusion a few outright rejoiced in the terrible fate that fell on Rakic.

A recent video released on the UFC Fight Pass App shows Aleksander Rakic dealing with the outcome mere minutes after the fight while heading backstage. We fans will never truly be able to understand how important a fight and their performance in it is for a fighter. Having one end inconclusively has to hurt even more when there is a potential injury altering the course of your career.

While a few have argued that what happened to Rakic was a freak injury, his opponent Jan Blachowicz has stated that dismissing it as such would diminish the efforts he put in with the leg kicks. While Jan will look to face the winner of Glover vs Jiri after UFC 275, Rakic will have to take a step back and re-assess his route to the title while also dealing with the hindrance that is the knee injury.

In the video an emotional Rakic can be seen holding back his tears as he limps to his locker room. His team can be seen consoling him saying, “You did everything good bro, it’s all okay” while the contender cries about having let his team down. Rakic, surrounded by his coaches then asks about the state of his knee to which they console him saying, “It’s no worse than the camp, it was the same in the camp” hinting at a possible injury the Serb suffered in the lead up to this fight

The video ends with Aleksander Rakic sitting down, devastated and overtaken by the guilt of losing a lifetime opportunity to challenge for the title while his coaches continue to console the young fighter saying that this will only push him on to better things.
