The UFC’s global expansion targets Ilia Topuria‘s Spain as its next target. According to a recent update, Topuria’s next fight will determine how quickly the UFC hosts an event in Spain. Here is what happened:

A user on X recently revealed an update on the UFC’s entry into Spain. The authority in Madrid reportedly is ready to host the UFC and is waiting for Ilia Topuria‘s fight. Here is what it read: 

The vice mayor of Madrid has just been asked about the possible arrival of the UFC to the capital, which Ilia Topuria takes for granted. This has been his response: 'We will have good news about it." It remains up in the air because we have to wait for the result of the fight. But there it is.'

Ilia Topuria is a Georgian-Spanish MMA fighter. He recently expressed interest in fighting UFC star Conor McGregor at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid. Topuria said that if McGregor did not lose his fight against Michael Chandler, they could fight in Spain. Only if McGregor felt ready for the competition. Topuria is confident he could defeat McGregor via a first-round knockout. He wants the fight to happen at UFC Spain in 2024 and hopes it takes place at the Bernabeu.

Meanwhile, in 2022 the UFC debuted in France with UFC Fight Night: Gane vs. Tuivasa. The fight took place at the Accor Arena in Paris, France. UFC’s expansion into Spain aligns with Dana White’s plan to expand globally and explore new markets. He confirmed last year that the UFC would definitely enter Spain.

Ilia Topuria’s title fight against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298

Ilia Topuria and Alexander Volkanovski will fight in the main event of UFC 298. The fight will take place this February at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. This will be the first event at the venue since UFC 270.

Volkanovski is the UFC featherweight champion who will defend his title against Topuria. Ilia Topuria plans to dominate Volkanovski and win the featherweight title. Volkanovski is coming off a recent loss to Islam Makhachev via a brutal knockout. On the other hand, Topuria has remained undefeated in the UFC and ranks #3 in the UFC featherweight rankings.
