Francis Ngannou leaving UFC as the heavyweight champion has caused major turmoil in the MMA community. One of the most phenomenal heavyweight fighters in the history of the promotion decided to not sign his contract. UFC boss Dana White, however, doesn’t seem to care too much about it after two years of trying to convince Ngannou.
Eddie Alvarez, a former UFC lightweight champion took to his Twitter account to react to the Ngannou saga. The MMA veteran could not believe Dana White’s words at the press conference while revealing the departure of Francis Ngannou. White was criticized for making it seem like the heavyweight was scared of facing real challenges.
“Ufc simply lost the bid for Francis, instead of admitting that, they go with the narrative [that] the Scariest mother fu**er alive is Afraid to fight in the UFC,” wrote Alvarez. “These jokes write themselves,” added the former champion.
Eddie has always been very unfiltered on social media and is famous for predicting his fights. The fighter does not believe White claiming Ngannou was afraid of fighting Jon Jones. Ngannou vs Jones was the most-anticipated fight in the heavyweight division.

What happens to the heavyweight division after Francis Ngannou’s departure?

The biggest anticipation among fans for the heavyweight division was the return of former LHW champ, Jon Jones. The legendary fighter has been wanting to fight in the heaviest weightclass for quite some time now. Before the Ngannou debacle, it was almost guaranteed that Jones would take on the “Baddest Man on The Planet” for the heavyweight belt.
Since UFC has failed to convince Ngannou of a new contract, the promotion has decided to book Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane for the next undisputed heavyweight title. The two will face each other at UFC 285 at the T-Mobile Arena. White made this announcement during UFC Vegas 67 post-fight presser.
Stipe Miocic, the former heavyweight champ has also called dibs on the winner of Jones vs Gane next. Jones has a chance to cement his legacy as the undisputed greatest of all time by attaining the championship title in the heavyweight division.
