“Thug” Rose Namajunas is one of the best strawweights on the women’s roster in the UFC, alongside Carla Esparza and Zhang Weili.

Rose Namajunas is one of a kind – her inspirational story has been told by the UFC’s videographers many times. From losing her father at 16 to becoming the strawweight champion, the fighter has been through it all.

However, her latest fight against Carla Esparza lost her a lot of fans. Namajunas was well on her way, or even could be considered to be the most loved female fighter. If not that, then she was, without a question a name people felt attracted by. However, that changed when she lost via decision to the newly minted strawweight queen Carla Esparza.

The match was an extremely uninteresting affair, with the two fighters hardly trading shots. As a result, the judges did not really know who to give the decision in favour of. Best known as a counter striker, Namajunas has used her exquisite striking to finish Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Zhang Weili. That, however, was not in the script for her fight at UFC 274.

Now, the UFC has announced that a documentary of “Thug” Rose’s life will be showcased at the Austin Film Festival, in a few weeks.

Clearly, fans had a lot to say.

The announcement was made by the UFC just a few hours back. It is safe to say that the post only attracted negative comments. While it is understandable for fans to be upset with her performance, MMA fans have also shown recency bias – thus, forgetting her previous scintillating finishes.

Fans also mentioned Pat Barry, who is Namajunas’ coach and partner, and their relationship status is skewed by fans.

Most of these berating comments are taken to an extreme by MMA fans. However, if Namajunas plans to turn the tide in her favour once again, she must get back to winning ways emphatically.
