UFC is returning to Canada this year at UFC 289 in Vancouver with the “Lioness” Amanda Nunes returning to defend her Bantamweight title. She will face Julianna Pena in the trilogy bout after both fighters have a victory over each other. Pena’s win over Nunes at UFC 269 became one of the biggest upsets in the history of the UFC.
However, in the rematch, Nunes showed why she is the best female fighter in the world, dominating Pena through all 25 minutes. Pena could not get past the hook shots of Nunes, which led her to lose the fight and even get knocked down three times in the rematch. Dana White talked to Aron Bronsteter, where he confirmed that UFC 289 would feature the trilogy fight between the two bantamweights.
Experts noted that Amanda Nunes did not fight a tactical fight the first time that led to her. Pena was able to land crucial jabs that hurt Nunes multiple times before securing the victory. Nunes fixed that aspect of her fighting game for the rematch and overwhelmed Pena for all five rounds. However, fight fans do not know if the result will differ from the second fight.

In the second fight, Julianna Pena could not get past hook strikes of Nunes, which led to her losing most of the striking exchanges. Nunes will attempt a similar strategy against Pena for the trilogy fight. However, Pena will have to come up with something to change the outcome of the fight in their next fight.
Fans express disappointment over a third booking of Amanda Nunes vs Julianna Pena
UFC 289 is heading to Canada, and the main event features the fight between Amanda Nunes vs Julianna Pena. They will compete in a trilogy fight for the Bantamweight title. There were discussions about Irene Aldana fighting Nunes, but UFC decided to book a trilogy fight instead. Fans did not like the booking as they do not see it turn out any differently from their second outing. Check out some of the fan reactions:

There's literally NO reason for a trilogy
imagine being a canadian and waiting years for this to be the main event?

God please dont let this have a main event spot again.

Amanda Nunes will look to close out the trilogy with a victory. On the other hand, Pena needs a win as fight fans already call her victory at UFC 269 a “fluke.” At UFC 289, fight fans will discover who will emerge victorious in the trilogy.
