Jared Cannonier proved that age is just a number as he dominated Marvin Vettori in a five-round fight and wants to fight Israel Adesanya for the title.

Marvin Vettori and Jared Cannonier competed against each other at UFC on ESPN 47 in Las Vegas. The fight between the top ranked middleweight contenders excited fans on a single perspective. Cannonier possess knockout power, whereas Marvin Vettori has pressure. The fight could have some sort of ramification in the stacked middleweight division. Cannonier won the bout via decision and wished to fight Israel Adesanya for the title.

The first round started with in typical Marvin Vettori fashion. He pressured Cannonier with his volume striking and wobbled the Killa Gorilla multiple times in the first round. However, he could not find the finishing strike. Cannonier fought back in the second round and found dominant result. Cannonier had around 90 strikes landed in the second round. Vettori’s only weakness throughout his career remains the lack of head movement.

Vettori got wobbled in the second round and looked on the verge of defeat. However, the toughness of Vettori cannot be downplayed. Cannonier continued to land the signature right hand. The Italian fighter got taken down in the third round but he quickly got back up to his feet. Vettori showcased his endurance throughout the fight yet Cannonier made his case to win in it on the judges scorecard.

Cannonier showcased his high-level cardio even at the age of 39. The American fighter had a well-rounded gameplan to subdue the techniques of Vettori. He also broke the record for the significant strikes in a fight in the middleweight division. He landed above 240 strikes throughout five rounds. Cannonier wishes to compete in a rematch against Israel Adesanya.

Jared Cannonier and Marvin had a great fight at UFC on ESPN 47. The fight showed the skill level and toughness of the middleweight contenders. Fans went on Twitter to praise the both fighters. Jared Cannonier finds himself in a great position in the middleweight division with a two-fight winning streak. If all the stars align, Cannonier could find himself in the title picture sooner rather than later. On the other hand, Vettori will need to overcome his striking deficiencies to once again fight for the title.
