It’s almost as if Jon Jones fans are reliving the same years yet again waiting for their favorite fighter to return. A new year and the same rumors of Jones returning as a heavyweight. The UFC superstar tweeted again hinting to fight for heavyweight gold in 2023.
It has been nearly three years since former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones vowed to fight in the heavyweight division. Fans are growing tired of waiting for the fighter to get into the octagon. The fighter is widely considered the greatest of all time by UFC fans. However, there is only so much patience that fight fans have.
In a recent tweet, for the New Year, Jones wrote, “#Champion2023”. This is not the first time fans have seen the fighter manifest his shot at the heavyweight gold. In the last three years, Jones has hinted at a comeback and built the hopes of fans high only for him to continue being inactive.
Several fight fans are furious that the fighter is yet to make his debut as a heavyweight and let out their frustrations in Jones’ mentions. Many fans claim they won’t be convinced of a Jones return until the fighter himself steps into the octagon. The fighter has been in talks with the promotion for the last three years and is yet to figure out a deal.

Fans are not optimistic about potential Jon Jones fight in 2023
Fans strongly believed 2022 was going to be the year the world would get to see Jones as a heavyweight fighter. There is nothing left to prove for Jon in the light heavyweight division. If his name is not already etched in the history books as the “Greatest“, winning a belt in heavyweight would only make it more undisputable. Check out some of the fans’ hilarious reactions to Jones’ recent tweet.
Would require you to actually fight.

Jon Jones’ last fight in the octagon was back in February 2020 at UFC 247. Jones defended his light heavyweight title against Dominick Reyes in a close five-round fight. Since then fans have been waiting for the fighter to return as a heavyweight.
Jones went through contract disputes with the company. He was also rumored to fight the former champ, Stipe Miocic. The biggest fight of them all, however, is still Francis Ngannou. Fans are growing impatient over waiting for a Jones vs Ngannou title fight.
