In the lead-up to a fight, UFC athletes are tasked with various duties, one of which is signing the event’s poster. Typically, if fighters are not at odds with each other, they sign the poster together in a shared space. This was precisely the case with Henry Cejudo and Kron Gracie, who exhibited mutual respect and friendly gestures during their encounter at the poster-signing area.
As Henry Cejudo and Kron Gracie exchanged a fist pump, Cejudo inquired if Nate Diaz would be present, to which Kron responded, “No.” However, as the poster signing commenced, a peculiar behavior by Gracie perplexed Cejudo. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt opted to move away from the area where ‘Triple C’ was already signing fight posters.
The entire event was recorded and shared on UFC’s official YouTube channel and is part of the UFC Embedded Vlog series. The camera also captured Kron Gracie informing the UFC staff that he would sign the posters after Cejudo had finished signing them.
The incident revealed that the two fighters weren’t as ‘friendly’ as they initially appeared. Gracie’s reluctance to sign the poster alongside Cejudo indicated a lack of camaraderie between the two. However, Cejudo attributed Gracie’s behavior to the weight-cutting process, indicating he didn’t take the incident too seriously.
Fans react to Kon Gracie’s behavior towards Henry Cejudo
As a former bantamweight and flyweight champion, Cejudo has ample experience to know that fight week can be challenging for fighters who must dehydrate their bodies to reach the required weight. In the video, Cejudo also indicated his surprise at the way Kron abruptly left the room.
Fans were also puzzled by Gracie’s behavior, as was Cejudo. Some fans even compared Gracie’s achievements with Cejudo’s and speculated that they may see both fighters in the octagon in the future. One fan guessed that Gracie may have felt disrespected, saying, “I would guess he felt his time wasn’t being respected.”
It’s unclear why Kron Gracie walked away from Henry Cejudo during the poster signing. However, there was no major drama, as both fighters didn’t escalate the situation.
