Anthony Smith and Ryan Spann competed in a rematch at UFC’s latest event in Singapore. The first bout ended in favor of Smith when he finished Spann via submission in the first round. Spann wanted the rematch to avenge the loss. Both fighters lost their last bout and needed the win to remain a contender in the light heavyweight division. Anthony Smith defeated Ryan Spann via split decision.

Nikita Krylov submitted Spann in his recent outing. Before losing to Krylov, Spann had a two-fight winning streak. On the other hand, Anthony Smith continues to win some and lose some in the light heavyweight division. However, he was on a two-fight losing streak, entering the octagon in Singapore.

Once the fight started, Smith took control with precise strikes and leg kicks. He even got a takedown in the first round, but Spann returned to his feet. Spann rocked Smith in the second round and got on top to try and finish the fight. Spann landed some nasty strikes on the ground. He outstruck Smith in the second round. However, the toughness of Smith cannot be denied.

The third round started with both fighters exchanging strikes on their feet. Both men landed some good shots, but nothing appeared significant. They continued to exchange strikes till the end of the third round. The action remained insignificant in the third round. The striking numbers remained very close. Smith got the nod on the scorecard. Spann’s inactivity in the third remained questionable for the fans.
