Silva’s last 11 fights have ended in losses. Back in December last year, he announced his retirement. But to everyone’s surprise, Silva returned to the octagon to face another opponent in June this year. The 43-year-old faced Salim El Ouassaidi for his return fight. The event hosted on June 10 saw the UFC veteran lose for the last and final time. The fight went to the judges who voted Salim as the winner. Antonio Silva took the Kingdom Fighting 1 cage to bow down and pay his tributes to the sports marking his supposedly final fight. Fans took to social media to express their gratitude and appreciation for the veteran. Some express their thoughts, hoping the veteran preserves his legacy and this truly is a genuine retirement.
Twelve of ‘Bigfoot’s last sixteen fights have ended in losses now. Six months after his eleventh loss, Silva traveled to France to appear for Kingdom Fighting 1. Now he says he is a hundred percent certain it is time for him to retire. Giving his assurance of a genuine retirement, Antonio took to Instagram to share the news and express his gratitude. “Thank you God for everything, today I say goodbye to MMA after 19 years in a very hard fight with the 25-year-old athlete, we beat up for 3 rounds and in the end, he took it by decision. I end my career very happy for everything…,” Silva wrote.
Silva has spread himself across all combat disciplines, indulging in MMA, kickboxing, and bare-knuckle boxing. With an MMA record of 19-15, Silva hangs the gloves of his MMA career.
