Tim Kennedy is a former UFC fighter and a prominent figure in the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) world. He has a background as a Green Beret and a Sniper in the military. Tim Kennedy is also a New York Times Best Selling author and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt. Tim recently went on Joe Rogan‘s podcast. There, they discussed the controversial situation ongoing in the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Hamas, officially known as the Islamic Resistance Movement, is a Palestinian group that governs the Gaza Strip. Its modus operandi remains to violently resist Israel and seek to establish an independent Islamic state in historical Palestine. Tim Kennedy addressed the ongoing unrest on Joe Rogan’s podcast. This is what Kennedy said: 

Israel not one time in history initiated conflict...If Hamas laid down their weapons there would be peace… If Israel laid down their weapons, all 7 million would be slaughtered.

The United States recognizes Hamas as a foreign terrorist organization and considers it one of the largest and most capable militant groups in the Palestinian territories. Kennedy argued that peace depended on the radicals like Hamas being terminated from the situation. However, he did emphasize the difference between the Palestinian cause and the extremists who hide behind the cause.

Tim Kennedy retired from the UFC and MMA on January 17, 2017. He announced his retirement on his Facebook page after a career that spanned from 2001 to 2016. At the time of his retirement, he was 37 years old and had an 18-6 record in MMA. Kennedy had fought in various organizations, including the UFC and Strikeforce, and he made this decision following a loss to Kelvin Gastelum.

Kennedy urged listeners to conduct a simple online search, encouraging them to investigate the number of individuals on the terror watchlist who have successfully crossed the country’s borders. He told Joe Rogan: 

You want to get a weird Google thing, Google how many known people on the terror watchlist have made it across…It'll scare the crap out of you.

Furthermore, Kennedy emphasized that the apprehension of individuals on the terror watchlist at the border represents only a fraction of those who have managed to evade capture. Kennedy also highlighted the number of individuals who have crossed the border in recent years. These statistics brought out a worried “Goddamn it” from the UFC color commentator.
