Ngannou tells Ariel Helwani about everything that happened behind the scenes when his belt got taken away from him. He also opens up about when he might enter the fight scene again and whether it will be in the octagon or the ring.
Francis mentioned that “hopefully” he will be fighting latest by July. When Ariel Helwani asked if it was going to an MMA fight or a boxing match, he said, “My gut?…I will say boxing”. Looks like Ngannou will be having a pro-boxing match against a mystery opponent in July.
With Ngannou looking to make his pro-boxing debut, which he always wanted, fans can expect him to see in two different environments. Let’s hope that the decision to have a boxing match doesn’t come back to bite him and make him regret it later.
Francis Ngannou on why the fight with Tyson Fury didn’t materialize
Ngannou mentions about how it was difficult to get his boxing fight with Tyson Fury to be made. There were rumors about Tyson Fury fighting Francis Ngannou, which never happened and Ngannou discussed why it could’ve happened.
“He retire he come back he retire again and he come back”, Ngannou said when asked about his fight with Fury. He mentions how he could not engage with him about the fight fully but now that he is not under the obligations of the contract, he can discuss it with Fury. Francis also mentions about how he is ready for any kind of fight with any weight of gloves if it’s Tyson Fury.
With boxing fans wanting Tyson Fury to fight Oleksander Usyk or Anthony Joshua, the chances of Ngannou vs Fury happening are very low. But if it happens, the fight fans are sure to enjoy the sheer brutality that would take place in the ring.
