Recently, Dana White teased a super fight in the making for next year. Soon, fans started speculating and gathering information to know more about the mystery UFC super fight. As such, a rumor spread that Georges St-Pierre would return to the octagon and face Nick Diaz in UFC 300. However, GSP ended the speculations in a recent press conference.
Georges St-Pierre appeared as a commentator for the UFC Fight Pass Invitational 5. As such, he answered a few questions from the journalists at the event. When asked whether he was part of the superfight, St-Pierre dismissed the idea and said he would never return to fight in MMA. Here is what he said:
Absolutely not! I promise you. I always told myself that I would not fight in a cage after the age of 40. I don’t say I’ll never compete in any combat sport event. But, a fight in a cage, professionally in a serious thing, for my legacy I will not do it.

Further in the interview, GSP stated that he considered his legacy and health as two of the most important things in his life. As such, he didn’t want to tarnish his legacy or hinder his health in an attempt to get back to MMA. On that note, he mentioned a lot of fighters competing past their prime, leading to health issues later in life.
Georges St-Pierre retired from MMA in 2019 with an impeccable record of 26-2. He became a two-division UFC champion, winning the middleweight gold in his last fight against Michael Bisping. It was a comeback fight for ‘Rush’ as he took a four-year break for personal reasons. However, he soon vacated the middleweight title, citing health concerns, and retired from the sport completely.

Georges St-Pierre is one of the all-time greats in MMA. A few months back, he teased a return to competition. As such, he was set to take on his former rival Nick Diaz in a grappling match in UFC Fight Pass Invitational 5. But, an injury forced him and Diaz out of it. Georges Dt-Pierre and Nick Diaz faced off in UFC 158. GSP put on a phenomenal performance to win the fight via unanimous decision. Now, after years, they were scheduled to go against each other in a grappling match. Fight fans were excited to watch the two veterans compete. But, the matchup was canceled as both the fighters got injured. However, GSP hoped to return in 2024 to compete.
