“I did cheat,” Georges St-Pierre reveals how he used female fan to cheat against BJ Penn in legacy fight

Georges St-Pierre was one of the most loved and skilled fighters during his time in the UFC. While St-Pierre lost against a few fighters, he made sure to always settle the score. GSP defended his welterweight title 9 times against some huge names like Nick Diaz, BJ Penn, Matt Hughes and more. He also came back from his retirement and defeated Michael Bisping to become the middleweight champion. Although, GSP was one of the most respected fighters on the UFC roster he too had his fair share of controversies.

The most famous of his controversial incidents was that of the grease gate. Georges St-Pierre was accused of applying extra Vaseline to his body by BJ Penn during their fight at UFC 94. Penn also notified the NSAC to get GSP’s fighter license revoked for cheating. With many accusations piling up, St-Pierre wanted to come clean and accept having cheated. However, he did not accept the accusations of rubbing excess Vaseline on his body.

During BJ Penn’s walkout at UFC 94, he was kissed by a man suddenly on his way to the octagon. GSP revealed that he had hired the man to help ease things out during his match. “I hire a man to kiss BJ Penn on the mouth on his way to the octagon. At that precise moment, BJ Penn lost all his strength and all his focus and the fight was mine. So If I cheat? Yes but not with Vaseline, by hiring a man to kiss him in the mouth,” said Georges St-Pierre.

All of this was a sarcastic reply from the witty St-Pierre and nothing of sorts was intentionally done by GSP. That said he was still investigated for the grease gate incident but the case was dropped soon.

When Georges St-Pierre almost fought Khabib Nurmagomedov

Georges St-Pierre and Khabib Nurmagomedov are two names that always show up in the debate for the greatest fighter of all time. Both fighters had highly successful runs in their respective divisions. Georges St-Pierre defended his title 9 times and also went up a weight to grab the middleweight title before. Whereas, Khabib Nurmagomedov maintained his undefeated record through 29 fights and was also the lightweight champion.

While both of these fighters were supposed to clash against each other, it did not materialise. GSP on a podcast revealed why the super fight between him and Khabib was not made. Georges St-Pierre revealed that his fight with Khabib was the only fight he would come back from his retirement. During his fight with Justin Gaethje, GSP was in Montreal, commentating on the fight for a broadcasting network. ” Everybody told me to be ready, he was going to call you out. ‘ I thought I was coming out of retirement, I had butterflies. Then he won he took his mic and retired. Nobody saw that coming, not even his team. His camp told me he was going to call me out and then he retired.” said GSP.

While Dana White himself tried to make the fight after Khabib’s retirement, it did not work. GSP also believes that both fighters got to retire on a high due to the fight not materializing.
