Glover Teixeira reveals the INSANE way in which he found out about the new UFC 282 main event

Glover Teixeira’s highly anticipated rematch against Jiri Prochazka fell through after the champion suffered a devastating shoulder injury and willingly relinquished the belt. This revelation came as a shock to the entire world of MMA. And barely two weeks before the UFC 282 card, the main event was changed to Jan Blachowicz vs Magomed Ankalaev for the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight championship.
Talking about this unexpected turn of events on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Glover said that he was given the choice to fight either Jan Blachowicz or Magomed Ankalaev.
Teixeira apparently told the UFC that he would fight Jan on December 10th or he would fight Ankalaev in Rio. However, the 43-year-old then explained that this conversation went nowhere and that he found out about the new UFC 282 main event in an odd way.
Glover said about his conversation with the UFC, “I don’t know, 30 minutes later, not even there. I found the news on Instagram that Jan and Ankalaev is gonna fight.” Teixeira also told Helwani that he didn’t really hear anything back from the UFC prior to the announcement, and this upset him. And said that the UFC saying “No” to a fight between him and Jan Blachowicz really surprised him.
Jiri Prochazka reached out to Glover Teixeira after their main event fight was canceled
On the MMA Hour, Glover also revealed that the former champion, Jiri Prochazka, reached out to him privately after their fight was shelved. The Brazilian said that a lot of his opponents are on good terms because of the mutual respect they have for each other. Among them, he listed LHW contender, Jan Blachowicz and the late, Anthony “Rumble” Johnson.
He spoke more about his conversation with Jiri, calling him an “incredible guy.” Glover said, “We talk about apologize, about fight and the happenings. And I just told him, hopefully good recovery. He’s a great champion, he’s a great person and I hope all the best for him.” There seems to be a mutual respect that has been fostered between these two warriors.

It seems despite the war that Jiri Prochazka and Glover Teixeira went to, they are still on good terms. And although Glover lost one opportunity to gain back his title, it only seems like a matter of time before he fights for it once again. However, fans will rue the fact that this incredible rematch is no longer on the UFC 282 card.
