UFC veteran Hector Lombard faced an unexpected twist at Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA 6. The former Bellator champion entered the bare-knuckle MMA arena against Chris Sarro, seemingly on the path to a straightforward victory.
Hector Lombard executed a smooth takedown of Sarro in the initial round, asserting dominance on the ground. As Lombard unleashed a barrage of punches with Sarro positioned face-down, a series of taps from Sarro ensued. Despite Lombard signaling to the referee, the stoppage was late, allowing for two extra punches.
Upon rising from the mat, Lombard displayed dissatisfaction as the referee overlooked Sarro’s tapping. What initially seemed like a clear-cut submission win took an unforeseen turn. The bout resulted in Lombard’s disqualification due to deemed illegal strikes at round 1. Confusion spread across the cage. However, Lombard expressed more concern for Sarro, who had to be stretchered out.
After the fight a welcome announcement relieved Lombard’s frustration. The decision was reversed to declare a submission victory. This peculiar twist in events was similar to Lombard’s prior bout at Eagle FC 47. Lombard’s journey through perplexing outcomes has added an interesting twist to his recent bouts in bare-knuckle MMA.
