“His breathing was pretty HEAVY,” Henry Cejudo suspicious of Khamzat Chimaev’s cardio despite huge UFC 279 win
Khamzat Chimaev- Henry Cejudo
Henry Cejudo has some huge expectations of Khamzat Chimaev‘s potential, but the former is worried about the latter’s stamina and carries a huge ‘what if’ thought in his mind. In an interview with Helen Yee, Cejudo, former 2-division UFC champion and the Olympic champion,, talks about Nate Diaz’s potential move into WWE, Jose Aldo’s retirement plans and much more. In the midst of all, Cejudo reacts to Chimaev, the #3 ranked UFC welterweight’s last win at UFC 279 against Kevin Holland.
“It was great,” said Cejudo. “But at the same time, I want to see him do work because if he doesn’t tap out Kevin Holland, how does he look like, in that third, fourth, fifth round… I also saw his breathing was getting pretty heavy, which I thought could be a little suspect too for Chimaev..”
Speaking of Chimaev‘s weight miss debacle at UFC 279, Cejudo said, “You won’t come back if you don’t get your s**t together. You won’t come back and ever make that weight again, trust me…there’s a way of doing it where you can still make weight, still feel good while you’re not overworking your body…”
Should Khamzat Chimaev fight Robert Whittaker next? Here’s what Henry Cejudo has to say
So Chimaev said in a post-fight press conference of UFC 279 that if he ever moves to middleweight for the 185 lbs title, he would probably avoid fighting a certain person.
In continuation with the same interview, Cejudo reacted to Chimaev’s reluctance to fight former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker because, as per Chimaev’s words, Whittaker is a ‘nice guy.’ “He doesn’t like him, it’s just he respects him,” says Cejudo. “I didn’t like that about Chimaev that he said that about Robert because, like you’re gonna have to fight him eventually, like, you probably don’t even know the dude… you have to put everybody on your damn hit list,”
