“All about fight but NEVER fought,” here’s what Anderson Silva HATES about Dana White as he opens up after leaving the UFC

Anderson Silva- Dana White
After Anderson Silva left the UFC, it almost seems like his love for martial arts ignited back like those good old days of his title reign. Silva is the former UFC middleweight champion who is currently a professional boxer. He is 3-1 as a professional with wins over the likes of former world champion in boxing, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz. Silva has also fought in an exhibition match against Bruno Machado in which he put on an absolutely stellar performance.
Silva is now scheduled to fight Youtuber-cum-boxer Jake Paul. Paul is 5-0 in his overall boxing career and will fight the toughest fight of his life by facing Silva next month in Pheonix, Arizona. Ahead of this fight, Silva gives an interview to Ariel Helwani at the MMA Hour and talks about boxing against Jake Paul, if he will do MMA again and much more. In the midst of all, Silva also talks about his relationship with his former boss, UFC President Dana White and what was the one thing Silva didn’t like about him.
“My only problem with Dana is that he is all about the fight but he has never fought,“ says Silva, subtly proceeding with the thought like White has too many dos and don’ts in his list for the fighters while he himself has never stepped foot inside the Octagon. “He’s a good person but he’s a businessman. It’s the biggest company [in combat] in the world… The company grew up because of hustlers doing it. You inside or not, you can’t sign and not sign, you can’t go anywhere… but when you sign, I [as Dana White] am the owner you make a deal with my company, you can’t say anything… “
“That is very important,” Anderson Silva opens up about his decision to leave the UFC

After that, Silva talks about how his decision to leave the UFC gave him a sense of freedom. “I don’t need to ask for permission from the UFC or Dana White for absolutely anything anymore, you know. And the fighters, I need you to understand that, that is very important- You make your own life. Because the fighters train hard… Dana is Dana, he is the representative of the UFC, not the fighters…”
Silva is widely regarded by many as the greatest mixed martial artist of all time. He has fought MMA for well over 2 decades, he is the longest reigning UFC champion in history and has the second most title defences in a single title reign in UFC history. He also has the record for the longest winning streak in UFC history. Silva’s wins include the likes of Derek Brunson, Chael Sonnen, Dan Henderson, Forrest Griffin, Vitor Belfort, Rich Franklin, Chris Leben, Yushin Okami, Demian Maia, Stephan Bonnar and many more.
What do you make of Anderson Silva’s thoughts on Dana White? Do you feel the same way that White doesn’t empathise enough with the fighters’ situation because he has never worn their shoes? Who do you think wins between Silva and his next opponent in boxing Paul? Where do you put Silva amongst the greatest MMA fighters of all time?
