Unfortunately, at UFC Vegas 69, the match-up between Evan Alder and Nazim Sadykhov was stopped due to a brutal cut on Alder, which saw Dana White question the decision to stop the fight. He seemed to be winning the fight but the cut ended the fight, resulting in a loss for Alder.
Dana White posted images of the cut on his Instagram story and even mentioned that he would stop complaining about the stoppage once he saw the depth of the cut. White, in the past, has been known to be furious when referees do not allow fighters who are cut or (ones who badly bleed) to continue fighting. Fortunately, the cut was stitched up afterwards by the medical staff.
Evan Alder was visibly upset at the decision, as any fighter would be. What makes the situation genuinely tragic is that most people felt Alder won the first two rounds before the stoppage was enforced. The fight was really entertaining, with Alder also knocking down his opponent.
Thirty-Eight seconds into the third round, the doctor was called into the Octagon and did not allow Alder to continue, resulting in a Doctor Stoppage as the final result of the match-up. Alder is now 7-2 as a professional MMA fighter, whereas Sadykhov moves to 8-1 as a professional. Hopefully, Alder will return stronger in his next bout.

Despite the TKO Doctor Stoppage against him, Alder got a morale booster when his fight against Sadykhov was selected as the Fight of the Night. UFC released an official video on their Twitter page, revealing Alder’s coach telling Alder about getting the Fight of the Night Bonus. It was so gracious of Dana White to award him the FOTN Bonus.

In the video, as we can see, Alder is ecstatic upon receiving 50k as a Fight of the Night Bonus. After a hectic training camp for the fight, Alder was dominating the fight, very close to winning the fight. Ultimately, the cut on his face led to his loss. But surely, getting the bonus would boost his morale for his upcoming fights in the UFC.
UFC Vegas 69 featured the main event fight between Erin Blanchfield and Jessica Andrade, where Blanchfield won via submission in the second round.
