Ian Garry vs. Vicente Luque was set to take place as the main card opener of UFC 296. However, ‘The Future’ pulled out at the last minute leading to the bout’s cancelation. As such, UFC CEO Dana White took it to X to announce the disappointing news after speculations started to spread. Also, he mentioned the reason for Garry pulling out of the fight.

People started speculating about Ian Garry’s reason for pulling out after the former didn’t attend his media obligations yesterday. Now, according to Dana White, the fight was off due to Ian Garry suffering from an illness. Here is what he said:

I know it's out there that speculation that Ian Garry and Luque is off. It is true, it is. Ian Garry started with the flue that turned into Pneumonia. So, that fight is off and is not happening. It is true.

Leading to the fight with Vicente Luque, many controversies arose surrounding Ian Garry. One such thing was his wife, Layla Anna-Lee’s book, How to be a WAG. UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland took a personal interest in this matter and blew it out of proportion. As such, ‘The Future’ faced a huge backlash on the internet.

The book was about how to get married to an elite athlete. As such, Sean Strickland commented on his views on the topic and called Garry’s wife a ‘Sexual Predator.’ Further, he mentioned that the Irishman was a victim of her. However, Anna-Lee responded, saying it was meant to be a satire.

Garry and Layla Anna-Lee’s 14-year age gap between them became another topic of controversy. Later that year, they welcomed a child and were a happy couple. However, due to the controversies, the couple has recently faced a lot of heat.
