“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” British Sports presenter, and welterweight prospect Ian Garry’s wife Layla Anna-Lee would befit the category. Over the past few months, she has faced proactive teases from Sean Strickland and Colby Covington. Podcasters Brendan Schaub, and Chael Sonnen might opinionate she has poor PR tactics. However, she has chosen to gracefully tackle the situation.
Layla Anna Lee‘s 2010 publication How to Be a WAG was to be an 11-page satire piece. Revolving around wives and girlfriends of popular sports entities, especially in football(soccer), it jestingly took a jab at celebrity ensnaring. However, unfiltered fighter Sean Strickland stamped a victim status by his 40-year-old wife on Garry for the same.
Here’s what Anna Lee had to say about it:
The top 3 Lies you believed about Ian Machado Garry...there's many more I'd argue...This Tsunami of aggression towards the undefeated welterweight all exploded when former middleweight titleholder, and current multiple world bullsh*t titleholder Sean Strickland read a clickbait headline but didn't bother to fact-check or read...Unsurprising gullible behavior.Layla Anna-Lee via her IG reels (@laylaannalee), in the segment Top 3 Lies you believed about Ian Machado Garry
Ian Garry, the 14-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC undefeated mainstay at 170 pounds edged out Geoff Neal at UFC 298 via split decision. However, the Anaheim crowd unforgivingly booed him despite his performance. The post-fight presser saw a similar result. Garry himself blamed Strickland and Covington for the rise of such insensitive trash culture within combat sports.
Accordingly, speaking to The MMA Hour‘s Ariel Helwani, Garry had recently vowed to give Strickland a hiding in whatever weight class. He recently also dared Colby Covington with an ‘I Quit’ challenge for defaming his wife. Anna-Lee too isn’t without her merits, slyly jabbing at Sean Strickland’s admittance of mental breakdowns as cause for misguided machismo.
Layla Anna-Lee weighs in on ‘numbers sparking sharp’ on content about Ian Garry; weighs in on fallout
Layla Anna-Lee has been subjected to quite the vile shots by fighters and the fanbase over the months. However, she has abstained from hastily reacting to the matter. Sean Strickland, sticking to his usual demeanor, even marked her as an abuser and of pedophilic activities. Husband Ian Garry’s association with his wife’s previous partner didn’t help matters any.
Things are so out of hand that most-oft than not, sexual innuendos are hurled at her. Hinting at her indulgence of multiple partners. Moreover, former UFC flyweight Tim Elliott and his divorce from veteran Gina Mazany are relatively implicit as the trajectory for the couple. Elliot had accused Mazany of cheating on him with his training partner, Kevin Croom. The matter is one for the books.
Anna-Lee has candidly talked about the scrutiny of her relationship with Garry on her IG reels before as well, as she does now. As of late, here’s what she had to say on the various fallout of such scrutiny and doubts cast on her:
We're in an age of headline-only attention-deficit consumers, looking only to validate preconceived ideas online...a perfect recipe for misinformation to explode and an unwarranted amount of hate to land on the shoulders on UFC's brightest prospect...There's a pattern here - A lot of lies are about his wife...when researching all of this bullsh*t online it was clear to me why people are making so much of this content...You see the number spike sharply anytime anyone's talking about Ian and his family...Layla Anna-Lee via her IG reels (@laylaannalee)
She also clarified the misnomer around calling Garry a cu*k. A nickname he has earned of sorts in light of recent turmoil. The terminology derives from one having relations to an adultress; which she clarifies she isn’t. It stems from the character Lago in the famed Othello. Her video segment mentions Lago was taken to be tortured and killed for the spread of misinformation. However, slyly, the script subtitle reads “Sean” instead of “Lago”.
