Middleweight Champion Sean Strickland recently went into a lengthy feud with Ian Machado Garry. Strickland had inappropriately commented on Garry’s wife, Layla Anna-Lee. Anna Lee, the British sports presenter recently caught heat from “Tarzan”, and even fans, for writing a guide publication for ensnaring celebrities.
Strickland took up the opportunity to mark Garry, as a victim of the same. The welterweight had retorted back threatening to sue the champion. Amidst all this, Mike Perry has weighed in, but against Strickland.
Perry is among the highest-profile athletes outside of the UFC. The Bare Knuckle Fighter is currently 3-0 in BKFC and also dabbles in boxing. Like Sean Strickland himself, the fighter has many skillsets outside the purview of the roster. Taking to X, he recently made a parody of Strickland, who also posted first while driving. He said:
What’s up guys, it’s Da Sean Strickland. When I’m not being a total bada** in the cage…I’m talking sh*t on social media about other people and their beliefs, and relationships and religion and stuff.
Perry and Strickland have a history of trashing each other. In June 2022, Perry took to social media calling his rival racist. Strickland on the other hand retorted back by putting him atop his hit list. Both fighters are known for their extreme behaviorism.
While Strickland is infamous for a lewd mouth and being unhinged, Perry shares similar traits. He had even, once, shown up to the Knucklemania2 press conference with a baseball bat in hand.
Consequently, Perry had also made a subsequent callout to Strickland before. Strickland is to face off against Dricus Du Plessis next, at UFC 297, on Jan. 20, 2024.
Mike Perry challenged Sean Strickland to a bare-knuckle fight
Mike Perry has solidified himself in the world of BKFC while having an on-and-off stint in the UFC. The bare-knuckle boxer has highlight stints over Michael Venom Page, Julian Lane, and UFC veteran Luke Rockhold. In the wake of his most recent victory over Rockhold, he turned his attention to his social media rival, Sean Strickland.
The two also recently inserted themselves into a squabble regarding Ian Garry. This was in light of a controversial publication by Garry’s wife. Before that, in July 2023, Perry had called out Strickland for a bare-knuckle match following his victory over Abus Magomedov. This was at UFC Vegas 76. Taking to X, he said:
Me and Sean Strickland should bare-knuckle box, show us the money, and make it happen @danawhite@bareknucklefc
CEO Dana White, or anyone, has yet to respond to the matter. Meanwhile, Perry squares off with former UFC lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez at BKFC 56. The event takes place on Dec. 2, 2023, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
