“You Don’t Want to Fight Whittaker?” Dana White asks Israel Adesanya after his recent comment on the fight

Israel Adesanya vs Robert Whittaker

Israel Adesanya vs Whittaker 2 was reportedly set to headline UFC 271 on Feb 12th in Houston with the announcement being made on UFC’s Twitter page just before Julianna Pena took on Amanda Nunes for the bantamweight belt.

However, “The Last Stylebender” seems to believe that the fight is “cap” tweeting it under the fight announcement meaning it’s a lie. What’s even more confusing is that Adesanya’s management company, Paradigm Sports, also announced the bout on their Twitter page.

His coach, Eugene Bareman, was hoping to delay the rematch with Whittaker for sometime later in 2022 so that it could be held in a larger stadium. Bareman recently told Submission Radio:

Maybe we are working on something different. Maybe if we can delay this Robert fight for a few months, maybe we can have it in a big stadium in Australia. Maybe that’s the right thing to do. And that’s okay. Let’s get everyone together and delay Robert for a bit. I’m sure Robert would love to do this fight in a massive stadium on his turf … Let’s put someone else in this February slot. You don’t know, and I’m not willing to confirm it. [Whittaker] had the title fight, and now he might have to be pushed back. I do not know.”

Dana White looked to be visibly confused and irritated when he was informed about Adesanya’s tweet in the post-fight press conference. He had a very vigorous response to what Adesanya said.

“Listen, if he doesn’t want to fight Whittaker, OK, then I guess we’ll find another fight,” White said. “Who gives a sh*t? I definitely don’t give a sh*t. You don’t want the Whittaker fight to be on? OK, then find something else. Why would we lie?” White said. “When have we ever f*cking lied? This fight’s coming up…we lied about it? Twenty f*cking years, have we ever lied about making a fight? Some fights are harder to make than others, but I don’t think we’ve ever lied about making a fight. Why would we lie about that fight?”
