Jake Paul offered a Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou fight and criticized UFC President Dana White for rejecting co-promotion. Paul argued that the bout’s potential is now greater than when Ngannou fought for the UFC, and both fighters could earn $20 million or more.
Dana White’s refusal to replicate Conor McGregor‘s financial success for Ngannou and Jones triggered Paul’s snarky response. Paul slammed White for shutting down the dream fight. He emphasized its increased significance, suggesting co-promotion with his recent affiliation with PFL. Paul took to X ( formerly known as Twitter) where he wrote:
It’s a shame. Jones vs Ngannou is way bigger now...If you one can co-promote with Showtime to put on MayMac why not with PFL...
There was speculation and interest in a potential UFC fight between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou. However, Ngannou leaving the UFC indeed disrupted a potential fight with Jon Jones. Ngannou expressed his desire for the matchup, but UFC CEO Dana White downplayed the possibility, suggesting Ngannou was not interested in the fight and that the UFC was not keen on making it happen.
Jon Jones also indicated that Ngannou came up with various demands, making the fight challenging to arrange. Ultimately, Ngannou’s departure from the UFC in January 2023 further extinguished the possibility of this highly anticipated bout.
Jake Paul and Nate Diaz’s potential rematch after boxing match
Jake Paul‘s camp has officially quashed rumors of a boxing rematch with Nate Diaz. Following Jake Paul’s victory over Nate Diaz, Diaz expressed interest in a rematch, suggesting it could even take place in MMA if not in boxing.
Despite Diaz’s call for a rematch, Jake’s camp has declined the possibility. They issued a clear statement that there will be no boxing rematch between the two. Paul’s MVP Promotions took to X where they wrote:
For the record: Jake Paul will not be boxing Nate Diaz again. Nate Diaz and Jake Paul have received an offer from PFL to rematch in MMA in the SmartCage. Jake Paul has accepted the offer.
Jake Paul and Nate Diaz had a boxing match titled “Ready 4 War,” contested in the cruiserweight division. The match took place at the American Airlines Arena, with Jake Paul winning by unanimous decision. Jake Paul’s victory over Nate Diaz in the boxing match earned him respect, and he proposed an MMA fight challenge after the 10-round battle. It was Diaz’s debut in professional boxing after leaving the UFC.
