“He PULLED the Mayweather effect-” Jared Cannonier pulls of ACCURATE assessment of Israel Adesanya’s fighting style from UFC 276
Israel Adesanya and Jared Cannonier
Seems like Jared Cannonier is looking forward to getting back to action as soon as possible to show that he is mentally way past his disappointing defeat to UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya back at UFC 276. Cannonier is now scheduled to fight fellow middleweight Sean Strickland on this December, which will mark his return to the Octagon nearly after 6 months.
In an interview with The Schmo, Cannonier talks about his loss to Adesanya and “Killa Gorilla” has made the UFC champion comparable to one of the greatest boxers of all time, Floyd Mayweather.
“As a competitor, he definitely did exactly what I figured out he was going to try to do,” said Cannonier. “He did it very well. He pulled out the Mayweather effect, if you will, the hit and not get hit sort of tactic. So he did very well in the application of his gameplan, so, it is what it is…” he continued.
Adesanya is not undefeated in his MMA career unlike Mayweather in boxing, but so far, there has been no one in the middleweight division that can figure out The Last Stylebender. Adesanya has wins over the likes of Cannonier, Marvin Vettori, Robert Whittaker, Melvin Guillard, Derek Brunson, Kelvin Gastelum, Anderson Silva and many more. Adesanya is now facing the man who is getting rooted by the MMA community to win against him more strongly than any support for Adesanya’s previous opponents, former GLORY Kickboxing champion Alex Pereira at UFC 281 this November.
“Fighting some yuck motherf**ckers,” Jared Cannonier talks about Sean Strickland’s finger infection
Since he is fighting Strickland next, Cannonier was originally supposed to fight the former next month. But Strickland caught a gross infection on his finger that led the fight to the postponement. He reacted to Strickland’s finger infection and spit some vicious trash talking over Strickland’s teammates at Xtreme Couture.
“[He] got his fingers infected fighting some yuck mouth motherf**kers in his gym apparently… but he is back sown up cleaned out and all that good stuff and we are back on for December 17th and I am happy that he’s still around, we can get it going…”

What do you make of Jared Cannonier reflecting back on the loss to Israel Adesanya? Do you think he is right in his assessment of what happened in the fight at UFC 276 back in July 2022? What do you make of Cannonier throwing shade at the hygiene of Strickland’s gym and his teammates? Who do you think wins between Cannonier and Strickland in their fight?
