Joe Rogan discusses Khabib Nurmagomedov's greatness
Joe Rogan has been one of the biggest Khabib Nurmagomedov fans. Khabib, despite his achievements, has debated if he should be on the GOAT list or not. However, the Dagestani fighter has the co-sign of a veteran like Rogan to be considered one of the greatest to ever grace the UFC octagon.
Though Khabib Nurmagomedov has a legendary record of 29-0, a lot of fans hesitate to put him on the GOAT list, either because of his premature retirement in his prime or his style of fighting which is predominantly wrestling based. However, Joe Rogan, one of the biggest connoisseurs of the mixed martial arts sport believes Khabib’s dominance in the octagon easily should put him on the GOAT list in MMA.
At the beginning of 2022, Bobby Green, a lightweight fighter went on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast and debated why Khabib wouldn’t rank high on the GOAT list. Khabib and Bobby debated very respectfully and stuck to their arguments. Bobby, like several fans of the sport, believes Khabib doesn’t have the “Style Points” to be ranking high on the list when compared to the likes of fighters like Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, and Conor McGregor, who had a very flashy style of fighting in their primes.

Joe has called the former lightweight champion the greatest of all time many times. According to Joe, the fact that Nurmagomedov has lost none or barely one round in his entire career of fighting in the UFC should comfortably put him as the greatest. Khabib has also dominated all of his opponents in his career with his style of fighting which impresses Rogan a lot.
“Khabib is arguably the GOAT. He beats everybody and never loses a round,” said Rogan. Bobby Green, the UFC lightweight says, “I would put him two or three or four [in the list]. I’m talking about who did it the greatest and who did it the best…I’m talking about style points.”
“I love that style. That style was SMESH. You don’t think that’s exciting? Khabib’s fights? You don’t think the Justin Gaethje fight was entertaining?” argued Rogan. Bobby then said he believes Khabib was only entertaining from the Conor McGregor fight. Rogan obviously disagreed and named some Khabib fights that were as entertaining as the last fights of his career. Joe and Bobby are basically the two sides of MMA fans when it comes to the debate of putting Khabib on the GOAT list. Which side are you on?
