UFC CEO Dana White boasts his share of viral moments. One that recently took netizens, both fights fans and unlike by storm is quite a famous one. Sage Steele, former ESPN anchor, welcomed White to her show. However, she ended the segment by calling him Joe Rogan.
White has engaged in such sitdowns ahead of the historic UFC 300 card. This name mishap caught the attention of the UFC commentator. The host of the prominent The Joe Rogan Experience has had his ups and downs. So, he knows that such fumbles come within the commentating/hosting territory.
People call me Dana – People go, ‘Oh, it’s Dana!’ I go, ‘No, I’m the other dude.’ It happens all the time. I think she just made a mental flub... When you’re doing a podcast and you’re interviewing someone, especially if you haven’t done a lot of them and it’s a high-profile thing and you’re doing Dana White, you’re always thinking of what to say...She handled it the right way...kept it in there. She didn’t edit it out. It’s funny...Joe Rogan on The JRE MMA Show #154
Din Thomas, John Rallo, and Matt Serra joined Rogan when he addressed the Dana White -Sage Steele incident at The JRE MMA Show #154. Serra mentioned that people always mistook him for Rogan and White. Rogan himself voiced a similar sentiment. So, he didn’t think much of the former ESPN anchor’s mix-up. He even lauded Steele for handling it perfectly.
Within the segment itself, White also admitted that people mistake him for other entities. One such celebrity that the non-fight fanbase mixes him up with is Canadian comedian and television personality Howard “Howie” Mandel. The whole incident remained hilarious. As such, White, Steele, and Rogan handled the incident with professionalism, even though Rogan hilariously used it as a marketing tool.
Joe Rogan hilariously enlists Dana White’s resemblance to promote his comedy tour
The gag of finding color commentators Joe Rogan and Dana White very similar is not a new one. However, the matter reached new heights when former ESPN anchor Sage Steele mistook one for another. The major fumble soon took to the internet and has become viral. However, Rogan used its virality to benefit his upcoming comedy tour.
Rogan will attend a three-day event at Comedy Mothership in Austin – an Anti-Cancel Culture Club that he calls his “passion project.” The comedy hub will host “Joe Rogan and Friends,” for which he took to the gag of him and White being similar and promoted it as such. It was a snap from White’s appearance on Steele’s show.
This only goes to speak volumes about his comical acumen and promotional skills. As such, these are the reasons why he maintains such a good hold over his fanbase. Celebrities might get offended when fans mistake them for others. However, such a thing does not exist in the friendship between Rogan and White.
