Jon Jones is about to make his return to Octagon in 2020. This has steered the whole MMA community with everyone’s eyes set on Jones’ comeback fight. Recently Joe Rogan and his guest Belal Muhammad discussed Jones’ opponent in the upcoming fight.
The UFC heavyweight championship has been vacant since Francis Ngannou decided to part ways with the company. This has led to Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane going face to face in the main event of UFC 285 on the 5th of March to decide the next heavyweight champion.
Discussing this matchup Joe Rogan touched down on Ciryl Gane’s skills and abilities inside the Octagon. Rogan said, “Ciryl Gane does a lot of s**t that’s very unusual. He stands totally sideways and does a twisting kick… Very weird… His movements, the fluidity of his combinations, and the guy moves like a middleweight and he’s 240+ pounds… He’s the most agile and probably the most technical of all the heavyweight strikers. Ciryl’s very well-rounded.”
Ciryl Gane is currently at 11-1 in his professional MMA career losing just one fight that too against a certain Francis Ngannou. Currently ranked the top fighter in the Heavyweight division the Frenchmen will be looking forward to capturing the Heavyweight championship at UFC 285.
Joe Rogan and Belal Muhammad believe Ciryl Gane to be a tougher fighter than Francis Ngannou
Jon Jones vacated the UFC Light Heavyweight championship in 2020 and since then has made his intentions clear to capture the Heavyweight championship. Initially, it was thought it would be Francis Ngannou who he would face but due to unpredictable turn-out events, the match between the two failed to materialize.
Now on Jones’s path to Heavyweight glory stands Ciryl Gane. Discussing the match on the same episode of the Joe Rogan Experience Belal Muhammad explained, “It’s a tougher fight than Francis. I think Cyril Gane, his movement his footwork he’s so good with his front leg, and for Jon Jones…this time it’s a long time off and you’re coming back with way more weight on and you’re going against one of the faster heavyweights.”
Jon Jones has just lost a single fight in his whole career inside the Octagon that too via disqualification. However, he has not been in action since relinquishing his championship back in 2020. Moreover coming across a quicker heavyweight fighter could prove to be a tough challenge for Jon Jones.
