UFC commentator Joe Rogan has made his name in the podcasting and comedy world. However, he is, first and foremost, a student of martial arts. His expertise in Jiu-Jitsu and Taekwondo can attest to that. Rogan considers elite martial artists in high regard. Rogan’s friend and fellow comedian Andrew Schulz is also a big fan of the sport. In his appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience, Schulz stated that Jon Jones is a modern-day version of an elite Samurai.

Joe Rogan also had a similar take on who Jon Jones would be in the medieval period. This is what he had to say about it.

If we were living a thousand years ago, he would be on a horse with the biggest battle axe waiting in the back hacking heads off and everybody would be running. He's a f*cking conqueror.

Rogan’s description came after Schulz pondered what it would be like to be Jon Jones, the best at hand-to-hand combat in the world. Before he explained it via medieval terms, Rogan stated that Jones is a bad guy trying to be a good guy.

Jon Jones has not fought since UFC 285, where he became the heavyweight champion. The UFC scheduled his first title defense of the heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 295. However, Jones pulled out due to injury. Nonetheless, the UFC and Dana White are keen on rebooking the fight on Jones’ return.

Joe Rogan to commentate at UFC 298 with Jon Anik and Michael Bisping

UFC commentator Joe Rogan only does PPV events in the US. Rogan, along with Jon Anik and Daniel Cormier, are the team that does commentary for domestic PPV events. However, UFC 298 in Anaheim, California, the first domestic PPV of 2024, has a slight change. Instead of Cormier, Michael Bisping will be in the booth.

The move was a surprise as Cormier is even a resident of California. Cormier had faced scrutiny from fans for his commentary for UFC 297, the previous PPV. Nonetheless, Joe Rogan is not a fan of having to do commentary in California. Rogan spoke openly of his distaste for California on the podcast episode with Aaron Rodgers.

Even though he is not a fan of California, he is a big fan of the UFC 298 PPV. Rogan holds Alexander Volkanovski, one-half of the headliner, in high regard. However, he is skeptical of his chances, particularly after the knockout loss to Islam Makhachev recently.
