Joe Rogan details about working with the UFC! The sport of mixed martial arts has grown leaps and bounds since it was officially introduced in 1993. Leading this rise are front runners UFC. Over the years, the promotion has managed to mark its presence in several countries across various continents. While many people have contributed to the success of the UFC, veteran color commentator Joe Rogan has been a mainstay in the promotion for a long time.

The former fear factor host started with the promotion in 1997. Since then, Rogan has managed to grow over the mixed martial arts fans. While he does receive his fair share of criticism, the majority enjoy Rogan’s thoughts and analysis regarding a fight. The added advantage Joe has when it comes to commentary is his own experience with Martial Arts.

He has an extensive background in disciplines such as Taekwondo and Kickboxing. Rogan also received his black belt in BJJ from 10th planet founder Eddie Bravo. His real-life training helps Rogan analyze fights and understand the troublesome situations an MMA fighter can face in the octagon.

Having completed 25 years in the promotion, Rogan is one of the most experienced broadcasters in the world. Labeled as one of the best by fans around, the color commentator once detailed how he started his journey with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

UFC 12: Judgement Day in 1997 was the first time Joe Rogan appeared in the promotion. While he originally began with interviewing fighters, it was at UFC 37.5 where Rogan took on the responsibility of being a color commentator. Since then, till now, the veteran color commentator has been a mainstay in the commentary booth.

Once during his appearance on The Rosie Show, Joe Rogan explained how he started working with the UFC. He said, “I started out in 1997 with them…I was the post-fight interviewer… This is what they did: they brought me there, they gave me a microphone, they put an earpiece in me and they go, ‘OK, ready, Joe? We’re going to come to you in three seconds.”

While many people would consider this role a lifetime opportunity, Rogan had no clue. He even labeled the promotion to be weird back then. The color commentator added, “Nobody explained to me what I was going to do, how to interview people; it was a weird organization back then.”

Having served the UFC for so long, Rogan has become an indispensable part of the promotion. While he only commentates on PPV events as of now, fans often miss his presence during Fight Nights. Rogan was last seen in the commentary booth at UFC 278: Usman vs Edwards. However, fans can expect to hear Rogan’s insightful opinions when he resumes his commentary role at UFC 279 when Khamzat Chimaev takes on Nate Diaz.
