UFC commentator Joe Rogan knew a thing or two about gambling. Rogan did not gamble, but UFC CEO Dana White always did. Rogan is a close friend of White and has seen the gambling proclivities of the UFC CEO. On one occasion, the way White gambled a huge amount of money surprised the comedian.

Renowned gambler Billy Walters was a recent guest on Joe Rogan Experience. Walters has even bet close to $5 million on the Super Bowl and also has a New York Times best-seller about gambling. Walters infamously bet $4.5 million on the New Orleans Saints to defeat the Indianapolis Colts at Super Bowl XLIV. The Saints were 5-point underdogs, but Walters picked them to win, and they won. Rogan read the book Gambler: Secrets from a Life at Risk, and this is what he said about it.

It's a lot more complex than I ever thought. When I was going over your stuff, I was like, 'Oh my goodness, like this involves so much time, so much time.' And reading this is not a simple thing, as like, 'Oh, I follow sports. I think Kansas City's going to win.' It's not. It's complicated, very, very complicated.

In addition to his fame as a gambler, Walters has also attracted notoriety with insider betting. A court in the US convicted Walters for a 5-year imprisonment. However, he did not serve the full term in prison. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the government changed the imprisonment to home confinement. Moreover, Donald Trump, then-US President, commuted the sentence a year before the total sentence.

Walters is a sports bettor, which Dana White has apprehensions about. White did not do sports betting but was a regular at Casinos. He has made a lot of money gambling, and many casinos have banned White from gambling due to his high-stakes gambling.

Notorious gambler educates Joe Rogan on the subject of match-fixing

In his recent podcast episode, Joe Rogan got the chance to delve into the topic of gambling with Billy Walters. Rogan had already read Walters’s best-selling book and had an idea of the intricacies of how Waters gambled. Nonetheless, Rogan asked a doubt about the match officials involved in match-fixing.

Billy Walters educated Rogan as he stated that such things happened in the past and would not happen now. Walters compared the small size of the sports betting market to the stock market as a reason.

Moreover, he even added that due to this fact, gamblers and bookmakers detected match-fixing very easily and caught them. Furthermore, he cited the Arizona basketball team and NFL referee scandals as examples.

In the recent past, the UFC banned fighters and personnel from betting on UFC events. This was after the scandal that James Krause caused. Krause provided insider information to offshore sportsbooks, which resulted in suspicious betting activity in one of the fights he cornered.
