Megan Olivi is an accomplished UFC broadcaster and colleague of Joe Rogan and Jon Anik. She recently had to firmly respond to a fan’s accusation of her going ‘full Karen’ during a UFC fighter Q&A session. It all began when Megan posted a picture celebrating her birthday on her social media account. It didn’t take long for one to chime in with criticism, suggesting that she had overreacted during the Q&A session.
Megan Olivi wasted no time in setting the record straight. She made it clear that her primary responsibility remains to protect the fighters. Olivi didn’t hold back in her response and asked if she disappointed him and would always be the bad guy over the fighters or fans. She boldly embraced the label of “Karen” if it meant safeguarding fighters from unnecessary drama and people seeking viral moments. “…I will always put fighters first. Get mad about it,” she boldly stated.
However, Megan Olivi didn’t stop there. She took the opportunity to explain her role during fighter Q&A panels. Olivi stressed that fighters should never become targets of disrespect for the sake of entertainment or viral videos. She firmly reminded everyone that these athletes are professionals, not punching bags for the amusement of TV viewers.
The day marked one of the events of the upcoming celebratory date of the UFC’s 30th anniversary in November. Belal Muhammad and other guest fighters attended the Q&A session with fans before UFC 291. Seizing the opportunity of the moment, a fan asked Muhammad if he could win a street fight via decision. This led Olivi to fire back, which led to her Karen moment.
