UFC 285: Jon Jones vs Ciryl

At UFC 285, Jon Jones will make his first appearance in the organization in three years when he takes on Cyril Gane. The battle, which will be for the vacant heavyweight championship, has an impressive buildup. The fighters recently had the chance to interact face-to-face as they took part in the event’s media conference.

Following the face-off, Jones was questioned by the UFC panel, during which the former light heavyweight fighter discussed his initial encounter with Gane. Jones mentioned that according to him Gane was a big guy, but after meeting Gane in person, Jones discovered that wasn’t the case. Jones thought of himself as the bigger of the two. However, Jones stated that inside the octagon it will all come down to MMA skills however, he enjoyed the sense of dominance he felt during the face-off.

He said: “That was my first time me and Cyril in person. It’s funny cause in my mind I just viewed him as being like this big man that was just massive. To me I felt that he was a little on the small side. It’s not a size competition it’s ultimately MMA and just looking at him in the eyes,it felt really good. I felt my dominance in that moment.”

Jones has gained a lot of mass ahead of his Heavyweight bout and is definitely not the same fighter he used to be at light heavyweight. It will be interesting to see how a heavier Jones is going to perform in front of a heavyweight who moves like a middleweight.

Jon Jones and Conor McGregor are two of the most famous UFC fighters in history. Jones and McGregor have both been away from the sport for a long time and will make their return this year.

McGregor is set to face Michael Chandler on the new season of The Ultimate Fighter, and ahead of UFC 285, the Irishman predicted the result of the Heavyweight title fight between Jones and Gane.

He said: “Jones vs Gane. I’m excited to see Jones finally ho up to heavyweight after so many years. Gane is a long range I’m very interested to see how it goes.” When Jones was asked the same question about McGregor’s comeback, Jones showed extreme humbleness and mentioned that there is no one like McGregor.

There’s only one Conor McGregor. I love Conor, I love what he represents. He’s big, he has a gigantic brand. Some sense it’s just as big as our sport. It’s gonna be great,” said Jones. It is evident that both fighters have a lot of mutual respect for each other.  Both Jones and McGregor were responsible for making UFC what it is today.
